The goal of the Fishdom is to solve puzzles and earn coins in order to decorate and set up a virtual aquarium. The player can buy different varieties of fish, decorations, and “comfort” goods with in-game currency to make the environment more pleasant for pet fishes. When all three meter gauges tracking progress are filled, one of three prizes will be unlocked: bronze, silver, or gold. Tanks that have been decorated and themed can be used as a smartphone screensaver.
The levels are built around a conventional “match three” mechanic, in which the player swaps two nearby gems to make three or more matches. Each game takes place on a distinct grid, and it’s a struggle to match stones over each golden tile at least once in each round. Some of the tiles are locked and have a different color; the player must match gems several times to unlock them. One of the bonuses comes when three or more things are matched at the same time: firecrackers, depth bombs, dynamite charges, or lightning. If the puzzle board is not cleared
before the time restriction expires, the game will return to the aquarium instead of moving on to the next level.
