WHAT IS THE NEW VIRAL GAS APP?

The Wall Street Journal refers to Gas as “the trendiest app right now” and is a social media platform. Isaiah Turner, Dave Schatz, and Nikita Bier, the creators of TBH, a similar app that Facebook purchased in 2017 but shut down in 2018, developed it.

Internet slang for someone who makes a lot of effort and sacrifices in order to impress someone gives us the phrase “Gas.” To “gas up” someone is to give them a boost, whether it is by a compliment or something else. The Gas app accomplishes the same tasks in a similar manner.

In essence, Gas is a question-and-answer app where users may communicate with others anonymously, much like the NGL app. It promotes communication amongst small social groups without using direct communications.

Only 12 states, including Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Ohio, and Indiana, now allow the download of the Gas app. The creators do point out that after a server expansion, it will also be accessible in other states.

HOW DOES THE GAS APP WORK?

When you register, the Gas app uses your location data to assist you choose your high school and allows you to add students from your school as well as their friends and friends of their friends. You cannot, however, chat to or message anybody.

Instead, users are presented with multiple-choice questions about classmates that have responses in the form of superlatives. For example, “Who is most likely to dress up as the poop emoji for Halloween?” “Bodies every new activity they attempt.” and “Their smiling faces make my heart melt.”

Your friends’ self-esteem will soar once they respond by receiving the Flames symbol, which denotes being energized. According to the website for this app, it aims to “create an environment that helps us feel better about ourselves.”

HOW TO USE THE GAS APP?

Despite being primarily targeted towards high school kids and teens, using the Gas app is rather easy and anyone can use it. Just download it from the App Store to your device, create an account, and add friends—people you may know—to your list of contacts.

You will start receiving polls after adding friends to your list, which you must respond to. The names of your friends will appear in the responses. Flames, which are only a considered indicator of popularity, are awarded to friends when you choose their names.

The software doesn’t provide any other activities. You’re going to be let down if you expected it to be something like Instagram or TikTok. The app could just be a brief phenomenon. Time alone will tell.
