WHY SIGNAL IS SPECIAL
Apple’s iPhone, iPad, and Android devices all support Signal. For Windows, Mac, and Linux, Signal also has a desktop client. All you need to join is a phone number. It’s unpaid.
Similar to popular messaging applications like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and others, Signal offers a similar user experience. One-to-one messages, groups, stickers, photographs, file transfers, phone conversations, and even video calls are features of this messaging software. Up to 1000 individuals can participate in group chats, and eight people can participate in group calls.
A major tech corporation does not own Signal. Instead, a non-profit organization that receives donations funds the development of Signal. The proprietors of Signal, unlike Facebook, aren’t even looking to turn a profit. Signal doesn’t try to track you down or overwhelm you with advertising.
While Signal’s UI is extremely recognizable, its internal workings are completely different. End-to-end encryption ensures that no one, not even Signal’s owners, can listen in on your chats. They are invisible to everyone outside of the discourse.
Additionally, Signal is entirely open-source. The client applications and server software for the project are both open source and accessible on GitHub.
